Homage to Dr. Usui
Dr. Usui
Dr. Mikao Usui Sensei of Kyoto Japan, rediscovered Reiki at the end of 19th century. He was born on August 15, 1865 and lived for 62 years. Towards the end of a 21 day retreat in March 1922, he got his first Raiki experience and after that in April 1922 he started a healing society named “Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakki” meaning ‘ Usui Reiki Healing Society’. Usui passed away on March 9th, 1926 while conducting a Raiki class in Fukuyama. He was buried at the Saihoji Temple in Suginami-Ku, Tokyo, Japan.
Different stories of Usui are prevalent. Both about him and his transformation into Reiki as a teacher. Mostly crafted and cited for the convenience of propagation of Raiki far and wide for the good. Dr. Usui was a Buddhist Monk and once when he could not answer a question raised by one of his students during his session and set out in search of that mystical power of healing which was done just by a touch.
Usui went tried to find out about this and to learn it but could not find much help. One day he left to the mountain ‘Kurama’ where the ancient Japanese monks from all the dynasties went for their expedition to spiritual awakening and meditation and for practicing specific monastic learnings and activities. Was on a tough and long meditation for 21 days on fasting and he got the power is how we know about it.
His attempt to make this powerful and magical tool available to the world has led to the evolution of Reiki through his students – Chujiro Hayashi and Hawayo Takata. Multiple versions and variants of reiki evolved over the period of time and thus did Mudra Raiki through our Guru Sri C.M Krishnanunni (1949-2014).
